Nursing Care FAQs

What is nursing care and who is it suitable for?

Nursing care is perfect for individuals who have ongoing medical needs that require regular monitoring or treatment from qualified nurses. It’s great for those with complex health conditions, mobility challenges, or recovering from surgery or illness.

What medical support is available on-site?

At Derwent Lodge, we have registered nurses on-site 24 hours a day, supported by a team of trained carers. They provide medication management, wound care, chronic condition support, and liaison with external healthcare professionals.

How are care plans developed and reviewed?

Each of our residents receives a personalised care plan unique to their medical and personal needs. Plans are created in collaboration with families and healthcare providers and are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain up to date to support the individual in the best way possible.

Can residents keep their own GP or healthcare provider?

Where we can, residents can remain registered with their existing GP. If that’s not feasible, we work closely with trusted local medical professionals to ensure continuity of care.

What’s the difference between residential and nursing care?

While both offer personal support with daily tasks, nursing care also includes round-the-clock support from qualified nurses, making it more suited to those with complex health needs.
